What if I am new?
Welcome! If you are new to using Pilates equipment, we recommend that you take an Align classes or two private sessions before you jump into other classes. We want you to be familiar with the equipment, and to feel confident and supported before moving on to more advanced classes.
If you have used the Pilates equipment before and feel ready to progress sooner, feel free to progress at your own pace.
Should my first session be a private?
Although not required, private sessions are the best way to get familiarized with the equipment and to feel ready to keep up in the group classes. We recommend that anyone who has an injury or chronic pain, or who is recovering from surgery begin with a series of private sessions.
What should I wear and bring to class?
You can wear comfortable workout clothes, the more fitted the better, so that the instructor can see your alignment and help you with your form. We require that all students wear socks with grip for safety and sanitary reasons. If you do not have grip socks, we sell them in the studio.
Please bring your own water bottle. We have a water filtration system that you can use to refill your bottle.
How long is each class?
Our classes are 50 minutes. Please arrive at least 5 minutes prior to the start of your class. If this is your first time attending a Core Community class, please arrive at least 15 minutes before the class begins.
Is Pilates safe to do every day?
Absolutely! We would love to see you every day and encourage you to try a variety of our classes. We also urge you to explore other forms of fitness outside the studio to challenge yourself.
At what age can I start Pilates?
We suggest that people be at least 17 years old before beginning Pilates,as the spine is still developing until this age. However, we do allow youths who are slightly younger—16 to 17 years old—to join with their parents’ permission. In these cases, parents or guardians must complete and sign a New Client Waiver form in person at the studio.
What if I am pregnant?
Congratulations! Pilates is a great way to stay connected to your changing body, keep you toned and prep you for delivery. We ask that you let the instructors know that you are pregnant before class so that we can suggest modifications and variations to your workout.
If you have never done Pilates before and would like to start practicing during your pregnancy, we suggest that you take at least one private lesson to learn the basics and to familiarize yourself with the equipment.
Is Pilates for guys?
Absolutely! It was started by the man himself, Joseph Pilates, a physiotherapist, martial artist and reflexologist.
Can I bring my children to Class?
At the moment, we are unable to accommodate children, as we do not have onsite childcare – yet. This is for their protection and to ensure safe, fun workouts for all. We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause.
Where do I park?
There is plenty of metered parking along 4th Avenue, a few parking lots as well as free street parking on nearby side streets.
Main St. has free 1-hour parking on the block as well as metered parking further north.
What if classes are full?
Hop on the wait list for a class. People’s plans always change! You can sign up online or call the office. The waitlist closes an hour before class to allow ample time for you to get to the studio. If you are on the waitlist, you will be automatically added to class if there is a cancellation.
